Tip #1 for Facebook Marketing for Small Businesses: Complete Your Business Profile
It may sound too simple to be a tip but one of the biggest things that will help your Facebook page stand out against your competitors’ is making sure you complete all the information in your profile. For example, each Facebook page for business allows up to 154 characters as a “bio description.” Make sure to utilize as many of those 154 characters as you can. This information is one of the first things that users on Facebook will see when they navigate to your company’s page.
Additionally, make sure to fill out other information like a link to your website, your operating hours, contact information (like phone number and email), and the category of business you’re in. You want to make sure that you’ve filled out as much information that you can to ensure that your page is able to be found easily when searched on Facebook, and once it’s found, that users have all of the information that they can get about your company.
Tip #2 for Facebook Marketing for Small Businesses: Develop your Page’s Personality
You want your business to stand out amongst the competition in your industry, and the same goes for how your business represents itself on Facebook. Consider how you want your small business to behave on Facebook. Is it a serious, product-driven page? Do you like to joke around and have fun with your customers?
The way that you think about your brand on Facebook may determine the kinds of content that you want to post and have your users engage with. It may also change the way that you react to user comments and posts as well.
For example, you might consider a more playful and fun atmosphere for your Facebook page, especially if you’re in a relatively dry industry like accounting or engineering. As a rule: anything you can do to get people engaging with your posts is a net positive for your brand, as long as you’re not being offensive or derisive.
Tip #3 for Facebook Marketing for Small Businesses: Use the Platform to Develop a Positive Customer Experience
With an opportunity to engage with new potential customers as well as returning customers through your Facebook page, developing a positive experience and rapport with your users is key. 82% of customers expect great customer service from a company on Facebook. Basically, if a customer comments on a post you’ve made from your business page, a post on your page in general, or messages your page through Facebook messenger, they are not only expecting a response from you but hope to have a positive experience as well.
This means responding to both positive and negative comments from customers.
Facebook provides a unique opportunity for your business to communicate with real customers, answer their questions, and help solve any issues that they are having. Furthermore, it allows you to do it in the public eye. Providing a positive and helpful reply even with a customer who may be upset can help show the public that your business is making a point to help a customer in need.
This can go a long way in showing your consumer base the kind of business you are, and that you care about your customers.
